Spirit of Soccer

Don't play with landmines PLAY FOOTBALL!

Enriching and Saving Lives through the Beautiful Game...

Founded in 1996, Spirit of Soccer is a Non Profit Children's Charity dedicated to the administering of Mine RiskEducation (MRE) to youths and their communities in post conflict areas of the world.

No child should loose his or her limb due to a land mine injury.

Our initiative, using Football (Soccer) Clinics, to alert inhabitants about the dangers of living alongside the indiscriminately killing Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) that are polluting their neighborhoods has successfully reached over 80,000 children.

Projects implemented include Bosnia and Herzogovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Cambodia and Iraq.

Match of the Day...

Iraq "90 min. Cease Fire" MRE session comes to a close with the World Cup Final. Summary of how things went:

Despite a bit of small arms fire in nearby neighborhood, operating in a 44* C/111*F weather,  the whole community of Kirkuk supported this event.  Thanks to their determination and the continued efforts of our Supporters and Protective Services MRE-Football prevailed.

The course brought together over 160 Kurd, Arab and Turkaman coaches and children.

54 coaches Graduated (15 female) in coaching and promoting basic but effective MRE messages.

To those who wonder why we choose to continue the work we do, a picture is worth a thousand words. Humanity perseveres through out ALL conditions.

The World is Round...

Football For Hope Festival 2010 comes to an end... but with Winning Results for the Spirit of Soccer Cambodian Team!

 A SPIRIT OF TOGETHERNESS:

The most important prize

Despite the two big wins by Espérance and MYSA, a standing ovation was reserved for Spirit of Soccer. The beloved Cambodian delegation was voted by its peers as most deserving of the Fair Play Award.

“I hope all of you will remember this moment,” Jürgen told the young delegates. “All of you will go home now, and you will carry this experience back with you, and you will have the responsibility to help change lives in your communities.”

Managing Director of streetfootballworld, Juergen Griesbeck
