Spirit of Soccer is a charity which uses soccer to teach children about the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

A landmine is an explosive device which is hidden in the ground and is designed to kill or maim people. Unexploded ordnance (UXO) is anything that has been fired or launched but has failed to detonate, such as bullets, artillery shells or cluster bombs.

It's estimated that there are around 60 million landmines in the world. Every year, around 20,000 people are killed or maimed by landmines and UXO. About 40% of them are innocent children.
